For most of us Earthlings, every single day brings with it, multiple reminders and signs of our planet's suffering. From unremitting forest fires, to hazardous pollution levels, to an overwhelming accumulation of plastic, there are different ways and statistics to imply the same thing - our planet's health has been compromised because of the behaviour of its inhabitants.
Now, it's easy to identify as a passionate environmentalist and urge people to save the planet. But for most of us mango folks, the phrase "save the planet" is as vague as it gets. How do you save the planet? Especially when you spend most of your day catering to your own responsibilities, how do you even have the time to save the planet?
Well, guess what? Despite the inherent heaviness in the phrase, saving the planet doesn't have to be a herculean task, or even a goal you devote your entire life to. You see, being environment-friendly is more of a life outlook, as opposed to a mission, especially when we factor in the average working population of the country. When you instil a sense of responsibility to the planet in your general mindset, you will subconsciously begin to behave, think and function in ways that positively impact the planet. But that's a dynamic process, and not an over-night change. To accelerate your process of becoming an environment-conscious global citizen, we have rounded up a list of 20 quick, and simple ways to save the planet and protect the environment. 1. Pay all your bills online to save paper.
2. When grocery shopping, try to pick items that are loose as opposed to pre-packaged, to reduce waste generation

3. Switch off the tap when you're brushing your teeth
4. Use a bucket to take a bath, and if you must shower, put a strict time limit of 3 minutes to save water
5. Swap all the CFL bulbs in your house with energy-saving lights

6. When travelling use e-tickets to avoid unnecessary printing
7. If you're a smoker, switch your plastic lighters with matchboxes

8. Keep your laptop switched off through the night
9. Switch to organic grocery products to support farmers and environment-friendly farming practices
10. Don't keep the geyser on for half an hour, just to use lukewarm water
11. Increase the temperature of your AC, lower the temperature greater the energy consumption

13. Get the pollution levels of your car checked periodically

17. Avoid using hairdryers when you have the option of air drying your hair. Not only is it environment-friendly, but it's also great for minimising hair damage due to heat
18. Recycle all the junk in your house at least every 2 months
19. Use public transport, and minimise driving your car as much as you possibly can
20. Set up a compost bin to make environment-friendly use of kitchen waste
