What is Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai?
Release Date: May 22, 2026 | Director: TBA | Cast: Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is the kind of Bollywood romantic comedy that feels like a warm breeze — bright, energetic, and built for the big screen. Starring Varun Dhawan alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, the film promises a high-spirited exploration of love, youth, and the messy choices that come with both.
The film follows a young man navigating the complications of modern relationships in a vibrant urban setting. Varun Dhawan slips back into the rom-com space after his action-heavy roles in recent years, and early buzz suggests this could be a return to the energetic, likeable form that made him a household name. The casting of two talented leading ladies — Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur — adds an interesting dynamic that the promos are already hinting at.
Releasing on May 22, 2026, the film arrives alongside Bandar and Chand Mera Dil, making it a competitive but exciting weekend at the box office. For audiences craving a light-hearted, colourful entertainer with great music and star chemistry, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is the most promising pick of that frame.
Key Facts — Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai
Genre: Romantic Comedy | Language: Hindi | Release Date: May 22, 2026 (Friday)
Starring: Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur | Format: Theatrical (Standard, IMAX, 4DX)
The film's music is expected to play a major role in its appeal. Varun Dhawan films have historically delivered chart-topping soundtracks, and the team has reportedly worked with leading music composers to create a youthful, energetic album. The promotional campaign has leaned heavily into vibrant visuals and upbeat vibes — a deliberate contrast to the darker, grittier films releasing around the same window.
Why It's Worth Watching
Varun Dhawan is at his best when he's playing the charming romantic lead, and this film marks a return to that territory after a string of action and dramatic performances. For fans of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, this feels like a spiritual continuation of that beloved space.
Pooja Hegde brings her signature grace and screen presence, while Mrunal Thakur continues to show remarkable range — moving from her dramatic roles in Sita Ramam and Lust Stories 2 to a full-fledged commercial rom-com. The chemistry between the three leads is the film's biggest draw, and early stills suggest an easy, natural rapport on screen.
